Made from pureed pinto beans, formed into a ball, then deep-fried in dendê – palm oil.

This dish is traditionally found in the state of Bahia, especially in the city of Salvador. It is often a street food and is served in halves stuffed with vatapá, shrimp salad, and hot peppers.

Vatapá
A paste made from dried shrimp, ground peanut and cashews, ginger, onions, coconut milk and palm oil.
